At Atlanta he dissipated his army in a series of bold but fruitless assaults. Jefferson Davis promoted him to command of the army of Tennessee, because he wanted someone who would fight. He suffered a fractured femur at Chickamauga and had his leg amputated. He was severely wounded at Gettysburg and lost the use of his arm. He was one of the best brigade and division commanders, with a reputation for bravery and aggressiveness bordering on recklessness. He almost didn't graduate because of excessive demerits. Getting out of the hedge maze, Danny reunites with Wendy, and together they get into Dick’s snowcat and escape. ![]() Realizing that he is leaving footprints in the snow, Danny carefully maneuvers backwards over his own tracks, and is able to throw Jack off his trail. Instead of being inside, the young boy is out in the hedge maze being pursued by his father. Wendy searches for her son in the hotel, but instead of finding him she is treated to nothing but horrors presented by the history of the haunted hotel. A horrified Danny senses this horrific murder and escapes the kitchen to run back outside, getting Jack’s attention in the process. ![]() Announcing his presence turns out to be a fatal mistake, as Jack surprises him and lodges his axe in Dick’s chest. ![]() And once she is sure that Jack is gone, Wendy leaves the bathroom.ĭick enters the hotel through the front door, and starts wandering around the halls looking for the Torrance family.
